The major global news story right now is the Israel-Palestine conflict, which was reignited on October 7, 2023, by Hamas’ attacks on Israel.
Many graphic videos of violence and kidnappings have been shared far and wide, whilst endless reports are coming from both Israel and the Gaza Strip about Hamas’ violence and the ruthless air strikes by Israel against Palestinian civilians.
What did Nostradamus say about Israel and Palestine?
It seems, though, that Nostradamus knew this was coming in 2023, given his prediction of “a great war” for this year.
It was over 450 years ago that the French philosopher wrote his most famous work, ‘Les Propheties’, which is a collection of 942 poetic quatrains which have later been linked to a number of real-world events in our time.
“Seven months the Great War, people dead of evil-doing,” he wrote, predicting this for 2023.
Many assumed that he was predicting an escalation of Russia’s war in Ukraine, but now it seems it was a preview of the current events in the Middle East.
The world reacts to conflict in Israel and Palestine
As an ally of Israel, US president Joe Biden has spoken strongly about Hamas’ acts.
“It’s abhorrent,” said Biden in a White House address.
“The brutality of Hamas’ bloodthirstiness brings to mind the worst rampages of ISIS.”
Biden confirmed that the known number of Americans killed stands at 14. He also stressed that several are still being held hostage, showing that the war is not only being fought with weapons, but also with the abduction of civilians on both sides.
The European Union is not going to freeze humanitarian aid to Palestine, though.
“The suspension of the payments – punishing all the Palestinian people – would have damaged the EU interests in the region and would have only further emboldened terrorists,” said EU’s chief diplomat Joseph Borrell.
