The European Union emphasized work on social and economic development as well as the provision of jobs for young people on Wednesday, while expressing its desire to expand cooperation with Iraq.
“We look forward to the role of youth in this country in cooperation between the European Union and Iraq,” stated European Union Ambassador Thomas Sayler in a speech during the conference (Launching Capabilities), which the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reporter attended. He also noted that “cooperation is good and has increased during the past months, especially after the meeting with the Prime Minister.”
“The conference aims to show the potential of Iraqi youth and develop an important segment of society in addition to economic development,” he continued, adding that “cooperation is linked to building the capacities of young people and increasing the economic and social aspect.”
According to him, “the youth of Iraq need to work with the government and receive a good education,” emphasizing “the role of civil society organizations to develop their social and economic capabilities.”
“We are working together with the Iraqi government and we look forward to greater cooperation with Iraq and the prime minister,” he stated, emphasizing the need to support young people in finding employment and starting their own businesses.
“We’ll emphasize employment for young people as well as economic and social development,” he declared.
Noting that “Iraq has a partnership,” he emphasized “the readiness of Iraqi youth to develop themselves and draw a new image of the country.”
