The European Union again worried about the possible rise in gas prices. Therefore, Brussels has already started looking for opportunities, how avoid crisis in winter.
ES takes into account the conflict in the Middle East and the possible sabotage of the Balticconnector gas pipeline. The fact is that against this background, the price of natural gas may increase.
The EU fears a new gas crisis
For its part, the European Union is considering extending the gas price ceiling that was set in February after weeks of intense negotiations. European Commission added that this move did not cause any negative consequences. Earlier Germany and Austria were cautious about it, arguing that it could provoke market distortions and supply shortages.
However, according to the European Commission, natural gas prices are currently almost 90% lower than a year ago. But EU officials and diplomats say despite lower energy prices and record inventories, the situation could be affected by Israel and Hamas crucian.
The EU also pays special attention to possible sabotage of gas infrastructure.
