Kolkata: Addressing a session of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in the city on Tuesday, external affairs minister S Jaishankar said that India’s foreign policy agenda is focused on enhancing connectivity and logistics infrastructure to bolster international trade. The minister announced that work has already begun on the development of international corridors, which would facilitate the export and import of goods. He said the international corridors would also benefit exporters and importers in Kolkata because of its strategic location. “In the realm of foreign policy, our focus is on leveraging global resources, rebuilding connectivity, securing trust and partnerships and attracting global talent and investments. Initiatives like the International North-South Transport Corridor and India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway exemplify our efforts to enhance connectivity and regional cooperation,” he said. “However, the journey towards a resurgent India is multifaceted and dynamic. It requires vision, determination and collaboration across sectors,” he added. Jaishankar highlighted the significance of the Make in India initiative in boosting domestic manufacturing and ensuring a steady supply chain by reducing dependence on foreign imports.
