Egypt-EU investment conference witnesses signing of 29 agreements worth €49B with European companies: PM

CAIRO – 01 July 2024: Prime Minister Madbouly expressed his pleasure at the success of the Egypt-EU Investment Conference, which witnessed the signing of 29 agreements and MoUs worth 49 billion euros with European Union (EU) affiliated companies, and 6 agreements and MoUs worth 18.7 billion euros with other alliances and companies.


 


He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to its economic reform program and its deep belief in strengthening the partnership with the EU.


 


Madbouly highlighted the importance of translating signed agreements into tangible projects on the ground to contribute to the Egyptian economy, increase foreign direct investment, and create job opportunities for youth.


 

He reaffirmed Egypt’s determination to continue the economic reform process and achieve its development plans, expressing its aspiration for the EU to be an active partner in this endeavor. Madbouly concluded by calling for continued communication between Egyptian and European counterparts and looked forward to holding the second edition of the conference in 2025.


The Egypt-EU Investment Conference was inaugurated by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, at Cairo’s Al Manara International Conference Center.


 


The conference took place on June 29-30 under the theme, “Unlocking Egypt’s Advantages in a Fast-Changing World” with a focus on exploring the role of renewable energy in shaping a brighter future for Egypt.


 


Various topics of cooperation, such as the green economy and circular economy, are being addressed during the conference.


 


Government officials from Egypt and the EU, industry experts, and influential business leaders have convened at the conference to unlock investment opportunities.
