The countries sent an appeal to the European Commission with a call to integrate Ukraine into the EU defense-industrial complex.
The countries of the European Union intend to expand cooperation with Ukraine in the field of defense industry. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Denmark, Trols Lund Poulsen, the press service of the department reported.
It is noted that the defense ministers of Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Poland sent an appeal to the European Commission with a call to integrate Ukraine into the EU defense-industrial complex.
The heads of the defense departments believe that such a decision will allow Ukraine to have access to various defense industry and defense innovation programs.
“Together with other defense ministers, we plan to prepare an EU action plan for Ukraine’s integration into the European defense industry as soon as possible… A strengthened Ukrainian defense industry is important for Ukraine – and for our security of supplies to Europe,” Poulsen said.
In their address, the ministers also emphasized the need to build up the technical service potential at the local level right in Ukraine.
