EU Consular Team discusses crisis and disaster management with Indonesia
To facilitate coordination between Indonesian crisis response actors and EU Member States’ embassies on crisis and disaster management, the Delegation of the European Union (EU) hosted a meeting on 16 May 2024.
Attended by representatives from EU Member States’ embassies’ consular affairs divisions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian National SAR Agency (Basarnas), the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration, the meeting proved to be a valuable exercise, providing insights into Indonesian institutional structures and working methods.
European attendees gained significant knowledge from the presentations by Indonesian officials and agencies who have ample experience in dealing with natural disasters.
