During the week-end of 6-7 April 2024, Homa Bay County hosted the second round of the Europe Day Kenya Football tournament at the Raila Odinga Stadium.
Ringa boys and Kobala girls qualified to represent the county and will now be heading to the semi-finals in Nairobi.
EU Ambassador Henriette Geiger and Deputy Head of Delegation Ondrej Simek attended the event.
Ambassador Henriette Geiger expressed her aspirations to make the next EU tournament a country-wide event spanning all 47 counties, using sports to empower as many young people as possible in Kenya.
Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga lauded the event as a great opportunity for the youth to open their minds to the different possibilities available to them.
