The first group of the most promising European companies have joined the European Innovation Council (EIC) Scaling Club, designed to nurture the next generation of home-grown deep-tech unicorns.
Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, welcomed 48 companies to the club at the Ignition Forum event today, officially launching the first four market opportunity groups dealing with:
- digital security
- next generation computing
- mobility & transport
- renewable energy.
Commissioner Ivanova said: “Congratulations to the first members of the EIC Scaling Club! Your innovative spirit and dedication are an inspiration to all of us. With this initiative, we want to empower our most promising innovators, the ambitious scale-up companies that will drive Europe’s technological leadership.”
The Ignition Forum provides a valuable opportunity for those companies to engage with 500 high-level members representing entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, and public and private institutions. It also offers significant added value to the selected companies seeking to grow their value and impact within specific market opportunities over the coming years.
About the EIC Scaling Club
The goal of the EIC Scaling Club is to foster the next generation of European deep tech unicorns. Those future deep tech champions were selected among the top performing awardees of EIC financial schemes, other national and European innovation programmes and beyond. The Club engages companies in a pan-European network of scalers to share their peer experience and obtain exposure at the European level. It provides the participating companies with tailored mentoring and access to quality business partners such as corporates and investors.
In the near future, the EIC Scaling Club will expand its efforts to build a high-level, international network of more than 120 deep tech champions and surround them with the world’s leading investment firms, corporations, media representatives, vetted business mentors and other technology industry stakeholders.
The EIC Scaling Club is backed by the Horizon Europe’s European Innovation Council and is part of Business Acceleration Services provided to EIC-funded projects and companies.
