On Saturday, Politico reported that Microsoft is close to finalizing a multimillion-euro deal with an Amazon-supported lobby to withdraw an antitrust complaint filed with the European Commission.
The deal, pending acceptance by members of the Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe (CISPE), would result in the providers withdrawing their investigation request over Microsoft’s cloud-licensing agreements, according to industry officials familiar with the proposal.

The pact could involve a multimillion-euro payment to the trade association and separate payments to individual companies CISPE, which includes Amazon and 26 small EU cloud providers, filed its complaint in late 2022, alleging that Microsoft’s new contractual terms imposed on October 1 were damaging Europe’s cloud computing ecosystem.
As part of the settlement, CISPE and its members would also agree not to file legal complaints against Microsoft in any country worldwide, the report said.
