Hyderabad: GMR group has rolled out what is being touted as the first of its kind aviation school in India. The GMR school of aviation was launched by Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday. The institute has been set up by GMR Aero Technic in technical collaboration with Airbus. Located at the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park at RGI airport, the institute will offer an integrated 4-year AME programme along with type training. The school has been certified by DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) and EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency). “For the MRO industry that is expected to grow to over US$ 2.4 billion by 2028, this school will be a game changer. It will equip students aspiring for a successful career with expertise and make them future ready for the burgeoning aviation industry globally,” said Ashok Gopinath, GMR Aero Technic president. GMR Group also entered into a strategic collaboration with IndiGo Airlines to form a digital consortium to boost innovation in the Indian aviation industry. The consortium will deploy cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational efficiency, passenger experiences, and industry sustainability. The day also saw GMR Aero Academy, an education, training, skilling and aviation consultancy arm of GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd, ink an MoU with Andhra Loyola College. The partnership will introduce aviation-specialised programmes designed to upskill students with Bachelor’s degrees, GMR Group said.
